This year’s Elvis Tribute will celebrate the SEVENTIETH anniversary of the events in July 1954 that turned a shy boy into the King - his first recording with Scotty Moore and Bill Black on July 5, 1954, that produced "That's All Right” (and 2 days later, "Blue Moon of Kentucky”), released together as a single on July 19; and the breakthrough performance a few weeks later on July 30 at the Overton Park Shell in Memphis, when he drove the crowd wild with a few shakes and twitches - some call this the first rock and roll concert.
The event will be a benefit for Blue Bear School of Music, and will be led by Hank Maninger and Nashville Honeymoon, including Lynne Maes, Joe Kyle Jr., Leor Beary, and augmented by guest Marc Capelle on keyboards. This year’s lineup of amazing guest performers is: the Howell Devine blues band (Joshua Howell, Pete Devine, and the aforementioned Joe Kyle Jr.), versatile soulful rocking vocalist Lydia Walker, former punk rocker turned honky-tonker Johnny Dilks, world famous drag king Leigh Crow as Elvis Herselvis, and rock journalist Ben Fong-Torres.
The San Francisco Elvis Presley Tribute events have been presented since 2017 by Steve Indig aka DJ Shindog. Indig has been producer/promoter/DJ for the nightclub party New Wave City, celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. Since 2010, Indig has also presented San Francisco’s Elvis Bowie Birthday Bash, an annual event that celebrates the shared January 8 birth date of both Elvis Presley and David Bowie. The previous SF Elvis Presley parties celebrated the 40th anniversary of the King’s passing, the 50th anniversary of the legendary 1968 Comeback TV Special, the 50th Anniversary of the King’s return to Las Vegas concerts, and the release of Baz Luhrmann’s “Elvis” movie.

The San Francisco Elvis Presley Tribute producer, Steve Indig, spun off from the success of San Francisco’s Elvis Bowie Birthday Bash, the annual event that celebrates the shared January 8 birth date of both Elvis Presley and David Bowie. The Elvis Presley Tribute parties are an in concert experience, with the San Francisco Elvis All Stars under the leadership of Hank Maninger. Featured guest singers have been world famous drag king Elvis Herselvis (Leigh Crow), punk music and activist icon Jello Biafra, rock journalist Ben Fong-Torres, master of honky-tonk Smelley Kelley, charismatic roots and country performer Mitch Polzak, the Bay Area's country sweetheart Lynne Maes, NorCal music legend and Elvis fanatic Steve Yerkey, politico and karaoke queen Fiona Ma.
The first SF Elvis Presley party marked the 40th anniversary of the King’s passing, and the following year celebrated the legendary 1968 Comeback TV Special. The 2019 Tribute honored Presley’s streak of new creativity and vitality, from the TV special to the Vegas concerts, and into hit records “In the Ghetto," "Suspicious Minds," "Don’t Cry, Daddy" and "Kentucky Rain."
