The San Francisco Elvis Presley Tribute producer, Steve Indig, spun off from the success of San Francisco’s Elvis Bowie Birthday Bash, the annual event that celebrates the shared January 8 birth date of both Elvis Presley and David Bowie. The Elvis Presley Tribute parties are an in concert experience, with the San Francisco Elvis All Stars under the leadership of Hank Maninger. Featured guest singers have been world famous drag king Elvis Herselvis (Leigh Crow), punk music and activist icon Jello Biafra, rock journalist Ben Fong-Torres, master of honky-tonk Smelley Kelley, charismatic roots and country performer Mitch Polzak, the Bay Area's country sweetheart Lynne Maes, NorCal music legend and Elvis fanatic Steve Yerkey, politico and karaoke queen Fiona Ma.
The first SF Elvis Presley party marked the 40th anniversary of the King’s passing, and the following year celebrated the legendary 1968 Comeback TV Special. The 2019 Tribute honored Presley’s streak of new creativity and vitality, from the TV special to the Vegas concerts, and into hit records “In the Ghetto," "Suspicious Minds," "Don’t Cry, Daddy" and "Kentucky Rain."
